Chemical reactions with Bethel

Here are some fun and easy science experiments that show some cool chemical reactions! join Bethel to explore and be amazed!

Wriggly Worms

What you need:

  • toilet paper

  • coloured markers

  • pen/chopstick

  • water

Steps

  1. tear off a sheet of toilet paper and use your coloured markers to colour in one side

  2. get your pen and or chopstick and roll up your paper onto the stick

  3. once rolled up put hold bottom of pen/chopstick on the table and push the paper down until it is all bunched up

  4. take the paper off (you may want to draw a face on your worm

  5. put your worm on a plate and use a dropper or teaspoon to put small amounts of water on your worm

  6. watch your worm wriggle and jiggle around

Foamy Reaction

What you need:

  • plate

  • baking powder

  • food colouring

  • vinegar

  • dropper/teaspoon

Steps

  1. line your plate or tray with baking powder

  2. in an icecube tray or little cups put vinegar with a different food colouring in each section

  3. get your dropper or teaspoon and drop some of the solutions onto your baking powder

  4. watch what happens does it create any type of reaction?

The Milky way

What you need:

  • plate with high sides

  • milk

  • food colouring

  • earbud

  • dish soap

Steps

  1. on your plate pour your milk until your plate is covered

  2. then add in your colours use as many colours as you want all over your milk

  3. out some dish soap in a cup and dip in your earbud

  4. then put your earbud in the milk solution and watch the magic

  5. continue to do this until the reaction stops going back for more dish soap if needed
